Hello Fellow Rose Lovers,
We are the Ventura County Rose Society. At our monthly meetings we have speakers and demonstrations about the Rose but the December Holiday Party is all about the Society. It is an opportunity to bond and get to know each other better and to just have some fun. This year’s party was no exception.
When we entered the meeting room we were greeted by long tables decorated with paper tablecloths (an oxymoron?) and roses and candy kisses. A big THANK YOU to Barbara Morse, Irene Pashiledes and their elves Connie Estes, Janet Sklar, and Maria Cervera-Trainor.
Another table was laden with the most delicious array of food. THANK YOU to those who brought all those wonderful treats. I especially liked the Cherry concoction. I would love to have that recipe.
Then comes the Main Event. Let’s get ready to rumble. Connie Estes led the Gift Exchange. Now this is no ordinary gift exchange. Everyone is allowed to select a gift from the gift table BUT we have the option of taking the gift someone else has already chosen. Fortunately there were no injuries. Some of the gifts were “poached” twice after being selected. Remember the copper watering can? It seemed like everyone wanted it. Congratulations to the lucky person who took it home.
And so 2016 came to a close and the Ventura County Rose Society is poised for another great year. Karen Fitzpatrick and her Program Committee have started lining up speakers for 2017-all about the Rose. But in just 11 short months we will all gather for another Holiday Party and hopefully another piece of the Cherry Delight.
Happy New Year to All and May You Enjoy Good Health and Prosperity!
